Randall enjoys another historic run at SFL meet

Randall enjoys another historic run at SFL meet

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Junior Alexa Randall ran the fastest 400-meter dash by a Troubadour in almost a decade, senior Antonija Jezildzic compiled two sizable personal records in the throwing events, while junior Jasleen Gandhoke came away with three event wins to highlight St. Francis in a Sierra Foothill League triple dual track & field meet at Jesuit High School Thursday.

Randall crossed the finish line in the 400 with a time of 55.21 seconds, more than six seconds ahead of her nearest competitor and 2.28 faster than her previous PR of 57.49 at last year's Sac-Joaquin Section Division I championship meet. This moves her into No. 2 on the school record book, behind only Ariane Arndt's 2016 school record of 54.75 at the 2016 SJS finals.

Randall also jumped ahead of Rosary's Justine Wilson for California's top 400 time in the young 2026 outdoor season, besting Wilson's 55.49 at Trabuco Hills Mustang Roundup last weekend. Additionally, she now ranks seventh nationally, behind Queen Creek's Nicole Ripperdan (55.18) and ahead of Coppell's Sophia Williams (55.32).

Jezildzic fired a 113 feet, 7 inches to win the varsity discus throw; then later pushed 32-3.5 to capture the shot put. The discus effort marked her first time surpassing 100 feet, with her PR being a 99-2 at last year's Granite Bay Field Festival, and represents the best throw by a St. Francis athlete since Samantha Ruggles went 119-1 at the 2015 Glenn Poole Invite. Jezildzic now ranks sixth all-time on the Troubie leaderboard, behind Brooke Sperbeck (114-3 in 2011) and ahead of Amanda Helmer (112-5.5 in 2005). Jezildzic's old personal best in the shot put was the 31-0.75 at last year's SJS divisional.

Gandhoke was the lone Troubie to win three events for the day, running 15.24 to win the 100 hurdles, clearing 5-4 to capture the high jump, then posting a PR of 45.33 to claim the 300 hurdles title. The long hurdles time represents an improvement over her previous best of 45.91 from the section divisional last season.

Randall, Jezildzic and Gandhoke had six of nine total St. Francis event wins in Thursday's meet, which also featured Davis, Oak Ridge and Folsom. The Troubie 4x100 relay opened the meet with a 49.61, Miya Menza followed with a victorious 5.11.07 in the 1,600; with Alyssa Gutierrez besting the field in the 800 at 2:18.89.

Additionally, St. Francis picked up five more junior varsity event wins. Rebecca Dickson captured the 1,600 at 5:15.58, Celeste Ramos overtook Oak Ridge's Elise Sale in the 800 (2:30.94), Cassidy Butler matched Davis' Hadley Kinne with a 7-6 in the pole vault, Abby Carrothers formed a 1-2 SF finish with Carley Glenn in the shot put at 28-9.5, not long after Glenn, Carrothers and Butler went 1-2-3 in the discus throw. Glenn fired a 75-3 in the discus, one inch better than her old PR at the third SFL meet.

Randall's 55.21 in the 400 crushed the old stadium record of 57.81, set by Arndt in a 2016 Delta League triangular. Gandhoke's 5-4 high jump matched that of Isabella Palchak at the 2019 Holy Spikes dual with Christian Brothers, making Thursday's meet the third consecutive in which St. Francis has set or tied two venue records.

Team scores were not available from the meet, although the event is scored as a triple dual to determine SFL standings.

St. Francis track & field splits up on Friday, with the distance crew going to Bella Vista for the Bronco Roundup Distance Carnival, and the remaining team heading up the hill to Placer for the LeFebvre Relays.
