Del Oro tops St. Francis at The Ridge

AUBURN, Calif. – Junior Arden Han-Wei led all players with a 1-under-par 35 but St. Francis came up nine strokes back from Del Oro, 234-225, in a Sierra Foothill League girls' golf dual match at The Ridge Tuesday afternoon. The Troubadours move to 3-2 for the season, both overall and in SFL play.

Han-Wei birdied the first, third and sixth holes on The Ridge's front nine before settling to a 35, five strokes ahead of DO's Cali Knutson for the individual medal. Freshman Chloe Jun overcame a slow start, first by firing a birdie 2 on the fifth, then sinking back-to-back birdie 3s on seven and eight before finishing with a par 5 on the inward hole. Jun finished at 5-over 41.

Sophomores Momina Niazi and Nydia Garcia scored 49 and 52, respectively, while senior Neta Tovar counted her 59 on the day. Gianna Seghesio represented the sixth Troubie in Tuesday's around, and closed out at 60 strokes.

Helping Knutson and largely propelling the Golden Eagles to the team win was the trio of Clare Kellogg, Emma Leingang and Ellie Davis, which collectively finished at two over bogey. Izzy Tejeda's 49 provided DO with another score in the 40s, more than offsetting Han-Wei's individual contributions en route to the nine-stroke victory.

St. Francis returns to its home course of Haggin Oaks to host Oak Ridge on Thursday for a 3 p.m. dual.
