Troubie JV Red places second at Rocklin

ROCKLIN, Calif. – Point guard Caitlyn Lee drained four three-pointers en route to a team-best 14 points but St. Francis' junior varsity Red squad could not overcome an early deficit, falling 56-39 to Vista Del Lago in the Rocklin Winter Tournament frosh championship basketball game Thursday afternoon.

The Troubadours slip to 9-2 overall, ending their win streak at eight straight.

Post Alexis Heise added eight points while Guard Lilian Vicio chipped in seven points with a team-leading six rebounds.

St. Francis trailed 31-12 at the half but outscored the Eagles after the break, with Lee hitting two of her long-range shots in the third quarter.

Impressively, the Troubies placed second in the tournament despite missing several regular players including starting point guard Karly Okamoto.

The JV Gold squad also competed at the Rocklin Winter Tournament and fill face Del Oro in the third-place game later on Thursday. Check back at GoTroubies.com for coverage on that event as well as the varsity home game against the Thunder.
