GRANITE BAY, Calif. – The 400-yard freestyle squad of Erica Jaffe, Isabelle Schmid, Mia Hill and Lilla Kapinya compiled a winning time of three minutes, 31.81 seconds, edging Davis by just a sixth of a second, and capping the final day of the Sierra Foothill League swimming & diving championships at Granite Bay High School Saturday.

The Troubadours finished third in the meet with 345 points, just two points behind runner-up Granite Bay. Davis captured its first SFL title with a 390-point total. However, the overall SFL standings include head-to-head dual competition throughout the year, with St. Francis placing second in its first year of membership, behind only Davis.

For her part, Jaffe tied for third among the meet's high scorers with 37, thanks to a second-place finish in the 200 individual medley (2:05.01) followed by a win in the 100 backstroke (56.35). In fact, St. Francis had three scorers in the 100 back, with Schmid placing fifth (1:00.53) and Lexie DeAngelis following in sixth (1:01.21). Freshman Riley Wood finished third in the consols, combining for a 53-point push in the team standings.

Jaffe previously led a 2-4-7 St. Francis finish in the 200 IM, with Marissa Recio (2:10.69) and Hill (2:13.32) reaching the championship heat. Sophomore Landen Didriksen added a 14th overall in the consols for a 47-point bump toward the team score.

Kapinya added a second-place showing in the 50 free with a 23.81, while joining Jaffe, Hill and Recio as the freestyle leg in the Troubies' third-place 200 medley relay (1:47.84). She later placed fourth in the 100 free at 52.70.

The top 16 individual scorers and the members of any winning varsity relay team earns All-SFL first-team distinction. Jaffe tied Granite Bay's Kingley Rosevold for third with her 37 points, Kapinya shared eighth with 32 tallies, with Recio matching Davis' Irelyn Kennedy for 16th with 29 points.

The 2025 SFL swimming & diving championships took place across four days at two different sites. The divers held their meet at Whitney High on Tuesday, the girls' preliminaries took place on Thursday at Granite Bay, with the boys' prelims running on Friday. This marked the first year that the SFL includes Davis, St. Francis and Jesuit, resulting in an expanded final day with championship, consolation and bonus finals for each varsity event instead of only 'A' and 'B' finals.

St. Francis now heads to the Sac-Joaquin Section championships: diving at St. Mary's on May 5, with swimming at the Elk Grove Aquatic Center on May 7 and 9.
