ROCKLIN, Calif. – Senior Erica Jaffe earned wins in the 200-yard individual medley and the 100-yard backstroke, sophomore Mikayla Magri captured the 100 breaststroke, while senior Isabelle Schmid made her season debut with a victory in the 200 freestyle, leading St. Francis varsity in its part of a Sierra Foothill League double-dual swimming and diving meet with Folsom at Whitney High.
The final score were not concluded, as the diving portion of the meet was interrupted by thunder and lightning after the second round of dives Wednesday night. The resolution for the diving part of the score remains to be announced. However, the Troubadours trail the Wildcats by a 87-83 margin while SF dominates the Folsom matchup by a 121-49 score.
Jaffe touched home in the 200 IM in two minutes, 12.10 seconds, while her winning 100 back time clocked in at 59.56. St. Francis enjoyed its largest scoring pushes in those two events in the head-to-head with Whitney, as Marissa Recio finished second to Jaffe in each: 2:14.22 in the IM, 1:04.81.
Magri also led a 1-2 exacta in the 100 breast, as her 1:11.39 bested teammate Landen Didriksen's 1:12.71 for a 13-point bump against the Wildcats. Schmid finished the 200 free with a winning time of 1:59.65.
St. Francis won 10 out of the 11 events against Folsom, but it was that odd race out that helped even the proceedings with the host. Recio's 5:24.34 finished second to Bulldog Maggie Clemens (5:15.75), but the Folsom win meant the Troubies still amassed nine points against Whitney.
Meanwhile, the Troubie junior varsity dominated its half of the meet, claiming nine events overall. Riley Wood won both the 200 free (2:07.94) and 50 free (27.34) while taking part in the 200 medley relay (2:04.24) and 200 free rely (1:49.68). Lillian Damrell (100 fly), Elyse Pometta (100 free), Madeline Kann (500 free) and Lena Moggan (100 back) also scored individual JV wins in addition to their various contributions to three relay firsts.
St. Francis returns to action in a dual meet against former Delta League rival (and current SFL rival) Davis on March 20. Meet time is 4 p.m. at Jesuit High.
