SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sophomore Savannah Hamilton won the 100-yard breaststroke, finished in a dead heat with teammate Emma Dietrich in the 200 freestyle, then took part in all four relay races as St. Francis finished weekend action of the Rio Americano Invitational swimming meet at Daniel E. Hall Aquatics Center Saturday.

Hamilton and Dietrich swam side-by-side in their heat of the 200 free, touching home with matching times of two minutes, 30.83 seconds. This came shortly after Hamilton swam the breaststroke leg of the winning frosh-soph 200-yard medley relay, then immediately turned around to assume the butterfly portion of the varsity 2MR. Hamilton later filled in for Wenceslao to claim the 100 breast at 1:23.67, exactly four seconds faster than runner-up Cecilia Garland of Christian Brothers.

Finally, Hamilton anchored both the frosh-soph and varsity 200 free relays. St. Francis had so few swimmers compete in Saturday's portion of Rio's meet that Wenceslao, Dietrich and senior Piper Brostrom each handled multiple legs of their respective relays.

Wenceslao also enjoyed a strong overall day, both leading off and anchoring the winning frosh-soph medley relay, then taking Audrey Ellis' place in the frosh-soph 100 free en route to close win at 1:02.52. She later runnered-up in the 100 back (1:10.95) in place of Elyse Pometta. Brostrom and senior Olivia Charles seized the opportunities to swim in off events: Brostrom in the 100 breast, Charles in the 100 back.

St. Francis returns to action in its last non-league meet against Rio Americano on Thursday. This dual also serves as Senior Night for ten 2025 grads to be: Brostrom, Charles, Lexie DeAngelis, Miranda Ferguson, Mia Hill, Addison Hutchcraft, Erica Jaffe, Erin Maeng, Marissa Recio and Isabelle Schmid. Meet time is 3:30 p.m.
