ROCKLIN, Calif. – The trio of sophomore Mikayla Magri, sophomore Landen Didriksen and senior Mia Hill formed a 1-2-3 Troubie trifecta in the 100-yard breaststroke, leading five total varsity wins in a Sierra Foothill League double dual meet at Rocklin with Del Oro. Additionally, senior Erica Jaffe earned multiple firsts in the 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke while helping the 200 medley and freestyle relays each capture wins.
The final scoring of the head-to-head matchups with the Thunder and Golden remains unknown, as meet officials had not entered the final event – the 400-yard freestyle relay – as of 11:59 p.m. Thursday night.
Magri won the 100 breast in one minute, 12.19 seconds, with Didriksen close behind in 1:12.86 and Hill in third at 1:13.30. A 1-2-3 finish guarantees the Troubadours the maximum 13 team points against both teams. Jaffe, Magri, Hill and senior Lexie DeAngelis led off the meet with a winning 1:54.80 in the 200 medley relay, then the foursome of Hill, Jaffe, Isabelle Schmid and DeAngelis claimed the 200 free relay at 1:42.34.
Jaffe's winning times were 2:14.63 in the IM, 59.69 in the 100 back.
St. Francis enjoyed an even stronger day in the junior varsity events, with eight total wins. Freshman Emma Dietrich captured both the 200 free (2:17.15) and 500 free (6:05.86) before anchoring the winning 400 free relay (4:16.00). Meredith Little claimed the 100 butterfly in 1:09.91 while also taking part in the the 400 free relay. Freshman Lena Moggan won the 100 free with a 1:01.86, Savannah Hamilton took down the 200 IM (2:36.38), and Maya Wenceslao won the 100 back at 1:09.96. Elyse Pometta led a 1-2-3 SF trifecta in the 50 free at 28.42.
The crew of Pometta, Moggan, Hope Butler and Hamilton won the 200 free relay (1:54.43), then Wenceslao, Butler, Little and Dietrich combined for the winning 4:16.00 in the 400 free relay.
St. Francis swimming returns to action on April 10 for the third and final SFL double dual, this time at Oak Ridge with Granite Bay. The meet takes place at the nearby El Dorado Hills CSD pool, across Harvard Way from the ORHS campus.
