GRANITE BAY, Calif. – Junior Lilla Kapinya won both sprint freestyle events while leading off the first-place 200-yard freestyle relay as St. Francis returned to Sierra Foothill League swimming action in a double-dual meet with Oak Ridge at Granite Bay Tuesday afternoon.

The host Grizzlies won their head-to-head matchup with the Troubadours, 111-71, while the Trojans came away with a closer 94-88 victory.

Kapinya won the 50 free with a time of 24.41, more than a full second ahead of Oak Ridge's Ava Bui and her 25.48. The UCLA commit then added a victory in the 100 free at 54.62, more than two seconds in front of Granite Bay's Zoe Merritt (56.82). Finally, Kapinya led off the 200 free relay with a 24.69 split, with Riley Wood, Mackenzie Terry and Lena Moggan following toward a winning 1:44.06. That edged Oak Ridge by a mere .08 for the eight team points.

In turn, Terry and Mikayla Magri formed a 1-2 exacta atop the 100 breaststroke standings for a 10-6 scoring edge in each matchup. Terry touched home in 108.81 with Magri following at 1:13.35. Terry previously posted a 2:15.51 in the 200 individual medley, third place overall but first in the SF-OR matchup. Landen Didriksen hit the finish pad in 2:17.94 for fourth in that event.

The team scoring includes the one-meter diving competition between the same three teams that took place 15 miles south in El Dorado Hills. Piper Bates led the Troubies with a second-place 199.15, with Stella Cassidy close behind at 180.60.

Tuesday's meet became the regular-season finale for St. Francis, which had Friday's home double dual with Rio Americano and El Camino canceled. Instead, the Troubies will return to GBHS in nine days for the SFL championship meet. The varsity trials take place on April 23, the JV trials run the next day, with finals running at 9 a.m. on that Saturday. Meet times are 4 p.m. on the weekdays.
