CONCORD, Calif. – Freshman Mackenzie Terry led a 1-2-3 Troubadour sweep in the 100-yard backstroke, junior Lilla Kapinya added two individual wins with season-best times, while sophomore Riley Wood picked up a victory in the 200 freestyle, highlighting St. Francis in a non-league dual swim meet with Carondelet, held at De La Salle Thursday.

Terry won the backstroke with a team season-best time of one minute, 2.94 seconds. Lena Moggan placed second at 1:04.68, with Wood close behind in third at 1:05.54. Team scores were not compiled at the meet, but the Troubadours amassed the maximum 13 points for that race.

Wood previously won the 200 free as the lone St. Francis entrant, touching home in 2:02.92. Kapinya became the first Troubie to break the one-minute mark in the 100 butterfly, making her season debut in that event with a 59.25 time. She also posted an SF season best by winning the 100 free in 53.51.

Meanwhile, sophomore Emma Dietrich notched two junior varsity event wins, swimming a 2:19.41 to claim the 200 free then a 6:17.32 to come home with a winning 6:17.32.

Thursday's meet had become an annual event on the schedule of two of Northern California's premier all-girls' Catholic high schools. The Cougars finished second at the CIF state championship two years ago. When St. Francis posted its program-best sixth at the 2023 state meet, Carondelet finished one place higher, with a mere six points separating the two. Thursday's meet also featured a matchup of two all-boys' schools in host DLS and visiting Jesuit.

The Troubies take a hiatus from competition due to the school's spring break. They return to action on Tuesday, April 14 for the final Sierra Foothill League dual meet of the year: a visit to Granite Bay with Oak Ridge. They host their home finale three days later on April 17, with a non-league meet with Rio Americano and El Camino.
