Clark, Cheah score braces in JV Red win over Inderkum

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Freshman Abby Clark and sophomore Alyssa Cheah each netted two goals as St. Francis' junior varsity Red squad exploded for three second-half scores in a 4-0 shutout of Inderkum in prep soccer action at the campus field Tuesday afternoon.

The victory improves the Troubadours to 11-2-1 for the season.

Clark hit one goal in each half. Jada Dwyre centered a perfect cross to her in the penalty box with a minute left before the halftime break, then she completed her brace in the 69th on a second-chance score. Gwyneth O'Brien set her up in front of the goal mouth in the 69th minute.

Meanwhile, both of Cheah's goals came on set pieces. Ruby Ellis drew a foul just outside the 18 on the left side, and Cheah steered a lob over the Tiger wall and goalkeeper in the 48th. Three minutes later, Giuliana Del Guerra drew a hard foul in the middle of the of the penalty area, and Cheah converted the ensuing kick.

On the defensive end, sophomore keeper Maggie Buffleben recorded five saves en route to the shutout.

Tuesday's game was the first of a five-date homestand for the JV Red. The Troubies return to action on Thursday against Rio Americano at 3:30 p.m.
