SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sofia Rabinovitz and Olivia Hamm each scored goals to lead St. Francis' JV Red to a 2-0 win over Ponderosa frosh in non-league soccer action at Cristo Rey High Tuesday night.
The Troubies improve to 9-1-1 for the year in their first action since a December 20 win at Inderkum.
Rabinovitz converted an assist from Abby Clark in the 36th minute following a pair of shots on frame, giving St. Francis a 1-0 lead at the break. Then five minutes into the second half, Hamm walked up and buried a shot from the left side to double the lead to 2-0.
Meanwhile in Elk Grove, junior midfielder Micaela Romo scored the lone goal off a corner kick to lead the St. Francis varsity to a 1-0 win over Elk Grove in Delta League play. The Troubies' JV Gold team followed the varsity team at Elk Grove. Check back at GoTroubies.com for results later on Tuesday night.
The SFHS varsity and JV Gold teams return to Cristo Rey to host Davis on Thursday at 4 and 6 p.m. The JV Red will host Oak Ridge on its campus field at 3:30 that afternoon.
