SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sophomore guard Emma Karamanoukian scored a game-high 13 points while Sydney Teoh added 12 more as the St. Francis High junior varsity Gold squad defeated Oakland Tech by a whopping 52-14 margin in the first round of the 11th Lady Pirates Holiday Classic in Pittsburg. Meanwhile, closer to campus, the Troubie JV Red team fell, 45-22, against Del Oro in the Robby Nakamura Holiday Classic opener.

Aubrey O'Donnell added another eight points, five rebounds, two assists and a pair of blocks in an all-around performance for the JV Gold. Karamanoukian also grabbed two boards and had two assists to go with her scoring output. The Troubies will face either Heritage High or Salesian High on Friday night at 8:30 p.m.

Impressively, the SFHS JV Gold allowed just two first-half points in the win over the Bulldogs.

Despite JV Red's overall setback, guard/forward Lilian Vicio continues to shine individually. She scored seven points in the second quarter and six in the third en route to a team-best 13. Vicio scored 23 two days earlier in the season opener at Granite Bay.

The JV Red will take on either host Kennedy or visiting Ponderosa on Friday afternoon. Tip is at 4:30 p.m.
