MATHER, Calif. – Six players scored as the St. Francis lacrosse team posted a 17-3 victory over Vista del Lago in the Sacramento Valley Lacrosse League opener for the Troubadours.

"We played really well together today as a team," said junior Judy Cates. "We worked the ball around and had good ball movement. We have been improving every game so I see good things in our future."

St. Francis (3-0) defeated Vista for the second time this season after opening the season with a 17-1 win over the Eagles in a non-league tilt.

Sophomore Sophia Gorona led the team with five goals and four assists with senior Jade Borg scoring four times and junior Grace Barger adding three goals. Junior Judy Cates and sophomore Sophia Bailey each added two goals for the Troubles and junior Allie Belafsky added a single score.

Goalie Danny Skeoch helped St. Francis build a 9-2 lead at the half and allowed just a single goal in the second half as the defense effort held the Eagles in check.

"The defense was really good and we played really hard," said Skeoch. "I am really proud of our effort and how we played today. We have been working hard to stay focused and get better."

St. Francis hosts Campolindo on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Davis Senior High School.
