ROCKLIN, Calif. – St. Francis fell by a 2-0 final to Rocklin in the varsity portion of a Sierra Foothill League girls' soccer tripleheader Saturday afternoon. The Troubadours slip to 6-2-3 for the year and move to 2-2-1 in the SFL.

St. Francis played against the 15-20 mph winds during the first half, during which the Thunder scored both of their goals. Senior Siri Coyne struck first with her long free kick in the 14th minute, then fellow 12th grader Livy Maeyama landed a shot from the right side of the box in the 33rd. Senior Sofia Rabinovitz had a shot blocked in the first minute of the contest, which ended up as the Troubies' only attempt before the break.

With the wind assisting in the second half, St. Francis managed more shots and more frequent possession on its attacking end, but that did not yield any scoring. Sophomore Lily Hall and senior Carly Hall managed attempts on goal in the 47th, with sophomore Lacey Harmon later putting a free kick on frame in the 71st, but Thunder goalkeeper Eva Warta handled each shot.

The varsity loss followed a scoreless tie for St. Francis JV Gold, ending that squad's win streak at nine games. The Gold Troubies took advantage of the wind in their first half, outshooting their hosts by a 17-0 margin, with seven such looks coming in the first nine minutes of play. However, of those 17 attempts, only Azaria Agbodike's blast was on goal, although Monet Zauner and Agbodike soon followed with shots that missed just inches wide of the cage.

SF had its best chance to claim the win in the 65th when Tallas Schaedler drew a foul just inside the right edge of the penalty box. However, Zauner's kick missed wide of the target. Despite the draw, JV Gold remains undefeated with a 9-0-1 overall record and a 4-0-1 ledger in the SFL.

The Troubies' JV Red finished the set with a 2-1 loss to the Rocklin frosh-soph, again with the wind conditions playing a part. In the 33rd minute following a corner kick, freshman Elizabeth McNearney fired from well beyond the right corner of the 18, landing the shot just inside the opposite post for the initial goal.

However, Rocklin answered with two goals in the final 22 minutes of action. Casey Abad equalized in the 59th, then Sophia Brook converted the second of back-to-back corner kicks in the 73rd for the go-ahead. JV Red now sits 4-4-1 for the year with a 2-2-1 mark in league play.

All three programs begin a four-game homestand on Tuesday with continued SFL action against Oak Ridge. Start times are 3:30 p.m. for JV Red, 5 p.m. for varsity and 7:15 p.m. for JV Gold at Cristo Rey's Adamson Family Sports Complex.
