SACRAMENTO Calif.- Freshman Micaela Romo from JV Gold soccer was named the GoTroubies.com Athlete of the Week for the period of Jan. 17-26. Micaela scored the penalty kick goal for JV Gold to win the game against Pleasant Grove 1-0. Romo also scored another 4 goals to help win Holy Cup on Jan. 25. JV Gold is continuing the season with a streak of 15 wins. 

Romo has had a great season so far, contributing with 12 goals, as well as four assists. Micaela has played soccer for 10 years and is currently playing for Sacramento United Soccer Club. 

JV Gold is playing Elk Grove High School at home on Feb. 5. 

Q&A With Micaela Romo

What do you feel like you or the team have been improving as the season progresses?

"I feel that our team has bonded more over the season and that really improved our passing combinations and our connections throughout the field." 

What are you and the team thinking about as Holy Cup is right around the corner?

"We're really excited to take on one of our biggest rivals and we're excited to take them on."

What do you feel like your role on the team?

"I feel like my role on the team is to put the ball in the back of the net and help my team win."
