JV Gold Soccer’s Romo Scores Four Times in Holy Cup Win

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Freshman Micaela Romo scored four times to propel the Junior Varsity Gold team to a 4-1 win over Christian Brothers in Holy Cup.

"I am pretty excited to play in this game and have looked forward to it the entire season," said Romo. "I am really happy I scored to contribute to our win."

It was the second four-game of the season for Romo, who tallied four against Rio Americano earlier this season.

"We really needed some good finishing today and she was very lucky to be the last one to touch the ball and put it in," said Head Coach Alex Hoang. "The build up from the team from the back to where she got it. Hats off to Micaela and finishing with her left foot. She had some nice goals to put it away in this big game."

Romo leads the team with 12 goals on the season, including a game-winning penalty kick against Pleasant Grove and a goal in the 5-0 win over Franklin earlier in the week.

St. Francis is now 14-0 and has out-scored their opponents 48-5 with 10 shutouts.

"Our defense has been great including our goalkeepers," said Hoang. "We play a team defense so everyone contributes. It has worked out great."

The Troubadours have five games remaining starting with Sheldon on Wednesday.

"They look really good," said Head Coach Alex Hoang. "They are really bonding and jelling. They is really good talent on the team from the starters to bench. Everyone steps up on the team."
