NATOMAS, Calif. – The St. Francis junior varsity gold soccer team poste two wins on Friday in the Inderkum Invitational varsity tournament. The Troubadours opened with a 3-0 win over Grant and then defeated West Valley 5-0 in the second game.
"They played great with good team ball," said Head Coach Alex Hoang. "I was very impressed. They were a little apprehensive at first but once they got their confidence they started doing really well."
Sofia Flores, Anna Karlshoej and Micaela Romo all scored in the tournament opener for the Troubies. St. Francis posted a third straight shutout to start the season with a 5-0 win over West Valley. Sofia Bacsafra scored off a header for the early lead off an assist by Alyssa Harmon. Mia Hamerton then scored back-to-back goals off assists from Grace Heisinger and Sullivan.
Holden Meek connected off a cross by Heisinger to push the lead to 4-0 and Meek paired with Karlshoej for the final score.
St. Francis takes on Pioneet at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday with a spot in the Championship round on the line.
