JV Gold Soccer Wins as Micaela Romo Scores Four Goals in Debut

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Freshman Micaela Romo had an impressive high school debut with a career-high four goals in leading the Junior Varsity Gold soccer team to a 6-0 season-opening win over Rio Americano at Cristo Rey High School Tuesday night.

"It was a team effort and a lot of good thru balls," said Romo. "We played hard as a team and put it in the back of the net."

Romo scored twice in the first half to give the Troubadours a 2-0 lead. Sophomore Alyssa Harmon assisted on the first goal and Sofia Bacsafra aided the second. Freshman midfielder Mia Sullivan added her first career goal as SF built a 3-0 halftime lead off a Bacafra assist.

Romo tallied her third goal in the second half for the hat trick off an assist by sophomore Holden Meek. Bacafra scored to make it 5-0 and Romo added her fourth goal for the final margin of victory.

"It was a really good game," said Romo. "Offensively we were really good building it on the back and defensively we were really good getting the ball back."
