West Park pulls away late against JV Red

ROSEVILLE, Calif. – Emily Nguyen scored a team-leading seven points while Sadie Favreau and Ella Renzo each added a pair of field goals, but St. Francis JV Red surrendered 10 unanswered in the fourth period to fall to West Park by a 28-19 final in frosh-soph girls' basketball action Friday night.

The Troubadours matched up with the Panthers in a 16-16 tie at halftime, while Nguyen had all three of her team's points in the third to boost SF to a 19-18 lead. However, sophomore Eliana Igna had six of her game-high 13 points in the final frame to help WP claim the win. Freshman Srishma Popuri added another nine points for the Panthers.

Favreau and Renzo amassed all of their points before the halftime break. Charlotte Thomas and Natalia Esparza also scored early to keep Red on pace with its hosts.

All three St. Francis squads return to action on Tuesday, albeit in different places. JV Red hosts Nevada Union for a single 4:30 game, while JV Gold and varsity head up Highway 50 to Folsom for a Sierra Foothill League doubleheader. In the meantime, six middle schools converge at the SF campus over the weekend to compete in the Parochial Athletic League tournament.
