DO snaps Troubie soccer unbeaten streak

LOOMIS, Calif. – Del Oro netted goals in the 14th, 38th and 43rd minute to claim a 3-0 win over St. Francis as part of a Sierra Foothill League girls' soccer tripleheader at Golden Eagle Stadium Thursday night, snapping a Troubadour undefeated streak that dates back almost a full calendar year.

The Troubies dip to 6-1-3 for the season with a 2-1-1 mark in SFL play.

The setback is the first for the program since the regular-season finale against Davis on February 5 of last season, a span of 16 games that includes both the Sac-Joaquin Section and NorCal Regional title contests. St. Francis managed 10 total shots, with all but two on goal, but none managed to find the back of the net. Marissa Ow fired a shot in the 21st that the DO keeper leapt to stop, and Miley Blough fired a free kick that was punched over the top through the football uprights for perhaps the closest SF chances to score.

Preceding the varsity loss was a 3-0 shutout for St. Francis' JV Gold squad, with freshman Azaria Agbodike both scoring and assisting on a goal. She began the game with a long drive up the right sideline to put the Troubies on the board, then Emma Kryski doubled the lead with a similar push up the field.

Then in the 68th, Azaria advanced to the corner before sending a ball into the goal box. With her back to the cage, freshman Brynn Baker completed a nifty backward roll for her sixth goal of the season. JV Gold improves to 9-0 for the season. Impressively, the defense did not allow a Golden Eagle shot until early in the second half.

The Troubadours' JV Red squad finished the night with a 2-0 win over the DO frosh-soph team. Livi Daugherty assisted Paityn Lowery to break the scoreless tie in the 61st minute, then Charlotte Kryski knocked in a Josie Quiniola cross from the top of the box with mere seconds remaining in the contest.

Freshman Xitlali Rosales tallied four saves in her 80 minutes in net, notching her second goalkeeper shutout of the season.

All three teams return to action on Saturday for a rare SFL matinee. A reschedule from the original December 12 date, the tripleheader starts with JV Gold at 10 a.m., followed by varsity at noon and JV Red at 2 p.m.
