  • Spring Delta League awards announced

    SACRAMENTO, Calif. – St. Francis’ Kevin Warren, Julia Southard and Brian Nabeta each earned Coach of the Year honors in softball, lacrosse and swimming, respectively, while softball pitcher Hope Jenkins and lacrosse midfielder Zahra Smith were both selected as the Player of the Year for her sport as the Delta League rolled out its full slate of spring sports awards following the conclusion of the Sac-Joaquin Section postseason.
  • Joaquin closes 2022 track season at CIF state meet

    CLOVIS, Calif. – Senior Cate Joaquin placed 14th in the girls’ 3,200-meter run as the lone St. Francis representative on the final day of the CIF State Track & Field Championships at Buchanan High Saturday. The future Georgetown Hoya crossed in a time of 10 minutes, 49.23 seconds.
  • Cornejo leads Troubies on Day 1 of state meet

    CLOVIS, Calif. – Seniors Tatiana Cornejo and Kenna DeLemos placed 14th and 17th in their respective events to lead a trio of St. Francis student-athletes on the first day of the CIF State Track & Field Championships, held at Buchanan High Friday. 
  • St. Francis places second at Masters, advances four to state meet

    DAVIS, Calif – St. Francis qualified four student-athletes to the CIF State Championships while tying for second place in the final team scoring to wrap up the second day of action at the Sac-Joaquin Section Masters track & field championships Saturday at Davis Senior High’s Ron & Mary Brown Stadium.

    DAVIS, Calif – Sophomore Kayla Towne and senior Tatiana Cornejo each won their respective heats in the girls’ 800-meter preliminaries to advance to Saturday’s final, leading a small crew of St. Francis student-athletes on the first day of action at the Sac-Joaquin Section Masters Championship Friday at Davis High’s Ron & Mary Brown Stadium.

    SACRAMENTO, Calif. – St. Francis senior cross country and track & field distance runner Cate Joaquin was selected as the Sac-Joaquin Section recipient for the 2022 CIF Scholar-Athlete of the Year award as the state governing body rolled out its year-end accolades in May.
  • St. Francis takes fourth at SJS Div. I championships

    EL DORADO HILLS, Calif. – Senior Tatiana Cornejo won the girls’ 800 meters with a personal record of two minutes, 13.19 seconds while senior Cate Joaquin broke her own school 1,600 meters record with a second-place time of 4:46.42 seconds, then nearly ran down Del Oro’s Riley Chamberlain in the 3,200 en route to another runner-up performance, leading St. Francis to a fourth-place team finish at the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I track & field championships at Oak Ridge High Thursday.
  • Jenkins, Joaquin earn SF Boosters athletics awards

    SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Softball catcher/outfielder Grace Jenkins and cross country/distance runner Cate Joaquin snared the two Booster Club awards during St. Francis High School’s year-end student awards ceremony Tuesday afternoon. Jenkins claimed the Leadership Award while Joaquin was bestowed with the Scholar-Athlete Award.

    EL DORADO HILLS, Calif. – Junior Maddie Pelfrey placed third in the pole vault while senior Tatiana Cornejo hit a personal record in the 800-meter run, leading a crew of St. Francis athletes on the first day of the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I track & field championships, hosted by Oak Ridge High Tuesday night.
  • Three Troubies win individual titles; SF finishes second at Delta League champs

    ELK GROVE, Calif. – Seniors Cate Joaquin, Tatiana Cornejo and Grace Heisinger each won individual event titles, leading St. Francis to a second-place total of 143 team points at the Delta League track & field championship finals, held at Sheldon-Pleasant Grove Community Stadium Saturday.
  • Pelfrey sets school record as Troubies lead at Delta League track championships

    ELK GROVE, Calif. – Junior Maddie Pelfrey broke and re-broke the school pole vault record twice over to win the individual championship in that event, while senior Cate Joaquin led a 1-2-3 finish in the 3,200-meter run for another varsity title, to lead St. Francis in the varsity portion of the Delta League track & field championships at Sheldon-Pleasant Grove Community Stadium Saturday.

    SACRAMENTO, Calif. –  Senior Cate Joaquin ran the Invitational girls’ 1,600-meter race in school-record four minutes, 48.58 seconds to highlight a crew of St. Francis athletes at the 39th Sacramento Meet of Champions at American River College Saturday.
  • Dobson leads small Troubie crew at Sheldon distance carnival

    ELK GROVE, Calif. – Sophomore Emma Dobson posted the highest finish of any St. Francis runner while freshman Chloe Hickey scored two medals, highlighting a crew of five Troubie competitors at the Glenn Rogers Distance Carnival at Sheldon-Pleasant Grove Community Stadium Friday night.
  • Towne hits 400 PR at Delta League center meet

    CARMICHAEL, Calif. – Sophomore Kayla Towne won the girls’ varsity 400-meter race with a personal-best time of 61.44 seconds, senior Tatiana Cornejo won the varsity 3,200, while sophomore Elise Blomquist also scored an event win in the frosh/soph shot put, highlighting St. Francis at the second Delta League track & field center meet Wednesday at Jesuit High.
  • Troubies win six varsity events at Davis dual

    DAVIS, Calif. – Senior Kenna DeLemos won the girls’ varsity long jump with a leap of 17 feet, 0.75 inches while Peyton Carson, Kayla Towne, Daphne Witherell and Grace Dunham captured the varsity races from 400 through 3,200 meters in length, highlighting St. Francis action at a blustery Delta League dual meet at Davis Saturday.

    ARCADIA, Calif. – Senior Tatiana Cornejo broke a seven-year-old school record in the mile, then fellow senior Cate Joaquin eclipsed an even older benchmark in the 3,200-meter run, highlighting a small crew of St. Francis athletes at the famed Arcadia Invitational track & field meet Saturday.
  • Talented trio to represent SFHS at Arcadia

    SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Senior distance runners Tatiana Cornejo and Cate Joaquin, along with junior pole vaulter Maddie Pelfrey, will represent St. Francis at the famed Arcadia Invitational track & field meet on Saturday. Tournament organizers announced the accepted entries last week, then updated the athletes and alternates list on Monday.
  • Heisinger wins hurdles, Pickett and Towne hit PRs at Speed Festival

    FAIR OAKS, Calif. – Senior Grace Heisinger won the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 46.62 seconds, while sophomores Kayla Towne and Kyah Pickett record huge personal records in the 400 and 100, respectively, highlighting St. Francis action at the Bronco Speed Festival track meet at Bella Vista High Saturday.
  • Pelfrey's win, Riley's PRs highlight SF at Granite Bay

    GRANITE BAY, Calif. – Juniors Maddie Pelfrey and Lauren Riley highlighted a small crew of St. Francis pole vaulters and throwers, respectively, at the Granite Bay Field Festival track & field meet Friday night. Pelfrey won the pole vault with a leap of 11 feet, six inches; while Riley hit personal records in each of the varsity discus and shot put.
  • Cornejo leads Troubies at first Delta League center meet

    DAVIS, Calif. – Senior Tatiana Cornejo dominated the field in the girls’ 800-meter run while Elise Blomquist, Caitlin Hafenstein and Pamela Vargas each won frosh-soph events, highlighting St. Francis action at the first Delta League center meet, hosted by Davis High at Dewey Halden Field Wednesday night.

  • Troubies dominate Falcons at Holy Spikes

    CARMICHAEL, Calif. - Junior Lauren Riley won both the shot put and discus throw to highlight St. Francis action in the annual “Holy Spikes” track meet with area rival Christian Brothers Tuesday afternoon at Jesuit Stadium. The Troubadours outdueled the visiting Falcons, 80-43, in the final team scoring.
  • Cornejo, Joaquin break school 1,600 record in Dublin

    DUBLIN & ELK GROVE, Calif. - Seniors Tatiana Cornejo and Cate Joaquin each broke the St. Francis school 1,600-meter run record, placing fourth and fifth in that event at the Dublin Distance Fiesta at Dublin High.  Meanwhile at Sheldon High School, pole vaulter Maddie Pelfrey and hurdler Magdalena Becerril each won their respective events at the Husky Invitational, highlighting the first full weekend of St. Francis track & field action for the 2022 season.
  • Pelfrey challenges school record at Halden Invite

    DAVIS, Calif. – Junior Maddie Pelfrey won the varsity girls’ pole vault and improved to No. 2 in school history with a leap of 11 feet, 10 inches highlighting action by a small crew of St. Francis athletes at Davis Senior High School’s Halden Invitational Saturday.

    ROSEVILLE, Calif. – Junior Maddie Pelfrey won the girls’ varsity pole vault with a leap of 11 feet, six inches at Oakmont’s Glenn Poole Invitational, kicking off the 2002 St. Francis High School track & field season.
