MATHER, Calif. – Sophomore Taylor Crotsley scored seven goals while freshmen Irene Erismann and Delaney McGahan each added two, leading St. Francis junior varsity to a 15-1 victory over Whitney in Sierra Foothill League girls' lacrosse action at Mather Sports Complex. The Troubadour jayvees had the night to themselves, as the Wildcats forfeited the varsity nightcap to their hosts due to a shortage of players.
St. Francis picks up its second JV win of the year, moving to 2-8-2. The varsity forfeit improves the Troubies to 9-3.
Crotsley netted two goals in each of the first and second quarters before pouring in three more in the fourth. Lucia Shepard, Elena Petrakis, Anna Schnack and Rebecca Mochel also scored once apiece to account for the balance. Petrakis, Shepard and Alex Reznikoff had assists to McGahan, Crotsley and Mochel, respectively.
The Troubies also held the advantage on the draw, 13-7, helping keep possession in their attacking third for the majority of the game. Petrakis and Zitelli led in that category with three apiece, with Zitelli also pacing SF with five ground balls. In fact, the St. Francis defense held Whitney to just two shots, with none after the halftime break.
The Wildcats hit an eight-meter chance in the final minute of the first quarter to prevent a shutout. However, the Troubies scored six times in the second to craft a 10-1 halftime lead. Erismann had the lone SF score in the third, but it invoked the running block for the remainder.
Both of JV's wins in 2025 have come against Whitney, following an 18-1 drubbing back on March 13.
St. Francis returns to action on Thursday for an SFL doubleheader at Granite Bay. JV begins at 5:30 p.m. with varsity starting at 7:15 p.m.
