CARMICHAEL, Calif. – The St. Francis lacrosse team had a balanced scoring attack as three players tallied three goals each to help the Troubadours post a 12-9 victory over Bella Vista in the season opener.
Junior Sophia Gorona, senior Judy Cates and junior Sophia Bailey each scored three goals in the contest to pace the offense. Sophomore Zahra Smith added two goals for her first varsity goals and sophomore Abby Alvernaz scored her first varsity goal in the win.
Ali Nickum made five saves in the net.
St. Francis built a 7-3 lead at the half after the game was tied 2-2 in the early play. The Troubies extended the lead to 8-3 after halftime and cruised to the win.
Gorona led the team with seven draw controls and Smith recorded five with Cates securing three.
St. Francis will be in action against next Friday at Del Oro after its Saturday contest was postponed.
