Troubie tennis to host Lincoln in SJS tourney opener

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – St. Francis has earned the No. 5 seed and will host 12th-seeded Lincoln of Stockton in the first round of the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I girls' tennis team championship tournament Monday at Rollingwood YMCA. The Troubadours enter the postseason with an 8-7 overall record. Match time is 4 p.m. due to court availability.

Overall, the Sierra Foothill League dominates the bracket, which also features No. 1 Oak Ridge, No. 3 Granite Bay, No. 4 Davis and No. 9 Folsom in addition to SF. (Del Oro and Rocklin play in Div. II.)

Junior Maria McDougall has played No. 1 singles in all 15 matches in 2025, sporting a 14-1 overall record. Sophomore Sandra Wallace boasts a 12-1 mark at No. 2 singles. Both McDougall and Wallace were 2024 All-SFL first-team selections who also qualified for the 2025 SJS individual singles tourney by virtue of their top-two finishes at the SFL championship. McDougall finished second at the section singles championship last year.

Other top singles performers include Sophia Troppmann, who went 8-5 in the No. 4 slot. Sophomore Lena Mundhenk also played in all 15 duals, with a combined 9-5 when at the No. 5 or 6 singles line. Meanwhile, the Troubies' doubles roster is led by the tandem of Ava Ensberg and Stella Lucchetti, which went 6-2 during the regular season. St. Francis rolled out eight different lineups at No. 2 doubles, with Nura Fananapazir appearing in nine matches (5-4).

Complete information for the Trojans is not available, although the lineup is led by senior Tatyana Wong, who went 9-4 at No. 1 singles in dual action one year ago.

St. Francis has won 10 SJS titles in its history, with the most recent being the 2017 Division II banner.
