Seven members of the St. Francis Water Polo program were named to the 2019-20 USA Water Polo Academic All-American Team on Tuesday,  September 23rd. Rising Seniors Riley Glenn, Emma Johnson, Claire McManus, Libby Slater and Zoe Sloat along with rising sophomore Gauri Mathrakett were recognized for their outstanding academic performance while participating in water polo.  Recent graduate Alyssa Jacobsen ('20), who accepted a water polo scholarship to George Washington University, also earned the honor. 

Athletes need to maintain a minimum 3.5 GPA and play for a varsity level club water polo program to qualify to be an Academic All-American. Our Troubies were seven of the 753 female water polo players in the country who received this recognition.  When asked about her team's accomplishments, head coach Emily Walen said,"I am so proud of all of my student-athletes. These girls are so well-rounded and take extremely difficult classes, participate in clubs, and complete many volunteer hours. The fact that they can be so successful in the classroom as well as the pool is impressive."
